Online therapy
Online counselling across Ireland
The research shows that online therapy works. Here, online sessions carry the same structure and depth as meeting in person. I have worked online with clients across Ireland and those travelling abroad for years now and therapy delivered in this way is successful. Since the pandemic, I've worked with many clients who I've never actually met in person.
Enquire about an appointmentWho it suits
People living rurally or far from a therapist, shift workers and parents with narrow windows in the day, Ireland-based clients abroad, and anyone who finds it easier to open up from their own home. It also keeps therapy going when you travel or move.
How it works
Sessions are one hour over a secure video call. I use Zoom, Microsoft Teams or WhatsApp video — whichever you are most comfortable with. You'll need a private space, a reliable connection and headphones. We agree at the start what happens if the connection drops, and I'll always have your phone number as backup.
Is it effective?
Research shows that online counselling is highly effective for a wide range of issues, with outcomes comparable to in-person work for many people. I have worked successfully with many clients I have never met in person.
What we can work on
Trauma and PTSD, anxiety and panic, depression and low mood, bereavement, relationship difficulties, work stress and burnout. EMDR trauma processing is possible online once stabilisation is in place; where practical, I usually suggest meeting in person for the first session.
